Iron Gate is nestled at the foothills of the picturesque Henderson Heights mountain range in the Eastern Cape of South Africa. It is said to have taken its name from the two iron stone mountains visible upon entry to Iron Gate, believed to have been a lookout point during the Boer wars.
The Thomas River that runs alongside Iron Gate promotes bass and yellow fishing as well as a great variety of birds for the avid bird watchers.
The landscape also offers hiking trails which take you to ancient bushman paintings
and breathtaking views.
